The Creation of the Military Entertainment Industry

The course of film history has changed drastically over the years through both technical film innovation as well as through the influence of globalized events like World War II . During the beginning stages of motion picture industry, the movies that were produced were incredibly conservative with both the visual content and the overall theme. However, the content within movies became more liberal and graphic alongside the advancements that were made within the western world such as local cinemas and TVs being more accessible to the public. These advancements coincided with the US Government and Military involvement within Hollywood.

World War II was a major historical event that impacted the film industry in numerous ways that have ultimately influenced the overall direction of the industry ever since. Prior to the war, graphic content such as seeing artillery vehicles and weapons being fired had not been made readily available to be viewed by the public. The US government utilized this type of war footage to create propaganda content that was played at movie theaters before the feature film. This era in time seemingly cultivated a relationship between the film industry and the government which eventually gave birth to the Military Entertainment Industry. The military entertainment industry has essentially allowed the Government to permanently influence Hollywood.
